At The Boutique Society we love to think of ourselves as an online emporium of designers and makers from around the globe, who curate the best in unique and high-quality products in Fashion, Gifts and must have style pieces for your home.
We also love to take things “off-line” too to meet our stylish customers face to face and to introduce our raft of incredible designers to the world. On Wednesday evening in Singapore we did just that. TBS co-hosted an event at the beautiful Aria rooftop bar in the heart of Chinatown and a short walk from bustling Club Street.
In this tropical setting underneath the Singapore stars TBS helped bring together a selection of inspiring designers for an evening of Fashion, networking and shopping the latest collection from House of Sheens. The event kicked off at 7pm with fashionistas & bloggers mingling and trying the new collections on for size.
House of Sheens have launched not just one but two collections; the Younique Collection created by women for women and the Larian Collection for children designed by House of Sheen’s designer – Shireena’s two children. Prepare for an overload of cuteness from the kids walking the runway!
On October 19, 2016, a Singaporean lifestyle fashion label called House of Sheens unveiled its latest collection of leather handbags. This range of bags is dedicated to empowering women to feel special, beautiful and confident about themselves, thus the range of bags has been named the ‘Younique’ Collection.
The Younique Collection was designed by students at the MDIS Fashion & Design School in Singapore, and follows House of Sheens motto;designed by women, for all women. House of Sheens also featured a limited edition collection of children’s bags the Larian Collectionnamed after the founder, Shireena Shroff Manchharam’s children.
There’s more! House of Sheens, collaborated with Apparella and featured a fashion show made up of affluent women, representing different cultures and personalities. Apparella is a Singaporean fashion label, selling ready-to-wear basics and sharp-tailored pieces. Similar to the strong women behind both brands, this event aims to inspire and show how female entrepreneurs can change the landscape in the fashion industry.
I am a lover of accessories, especially bold and beautiful bags. It may be an obsession. Living in Singapore I have discovered a homegrown brand who can fuel my bag habit – House of Sheens. The charming Shireena who does everything from design to sourcing to marketing and event planning runs this vibrant label. She is the modern day superwoman!
The HOS signature style is all about combining prints and bold colours to create elegant pieces, which add character to any outfit. Shireena draws inspiration from living in Asia and the exotic sights and sounds from her travels around the region. What really interested me was when I found out that whilst designing Shireena keeps in mind an image of a strong, independent woman and creates designs which aim to empower women and give them confidence and style.
Being a personal fan of HOS I was delighted when Shireena invited me to shoot some of my favourites from her current collections. So my talented photographer Sam Simeonova and I headed to the rustically quaint Tiong Bahru, which provided the perfect Singaporean backdrop to this homegrown brand.
I choose four pieces from three Sheens Collections and all of them provided that pop to an otherwise ordinary outfit. I love it when you have an accessory you plan an outfit around and you feel genuine excitement to wear and show off around town. This is how I felt with these HOS pieces and when Shireena asked me which was my favourite – it was an impossible choice!
What I love about House of Sheens is their love for collaboration; whether that be through their work at the Fashion and Design school at MDIS where Shireena nurtures talented young designers or through Shireena’s encouragement of her own children’s design skills and using their influence on future designs. These collaborations not only produce great synergy but they also produce unique and fresh designs you will not find anywhere else.
