Last month, House of Sheens worked with two amazing students from Raffles College to conceptualise and capture our latest photoshoot. Aashna Rao and Shivangi Jalan are both Fashion Marketing students who remind us to be brilliant and bold no matter how young (or old) you are.
We took some time to talk to Aashna and Shivangi about their experience working with us, and find out more about what inspires them.
We hope their answers awaken every bit of your intrepid soul.
What inspired your love of photography?
Travelling. I’ve always loved visual imagery and have always been a visual centric person, so once I started capturing snippets of my travels, it really me identify with my passion for photography.
What did you learn by being a part of the House of Sheens photoshoot?
Being a part of the House of Sheens photoshoot made me realise how much hard work goes into fashion photography. It also showed me that when you have a strong concept, product, and a willing model, you don’t need to rely on post production to get a good shot.
Which strong woman would you love to work with?
I’d love to work with Ava Mcavoy and of course, Cara Delevingne.
To you, what’s a strong and inspiring woman?
I think strength is very subjective. We are not born strong, but learn to be from the obstacles placed in front of you. I respect strong women, and hope to influence others around me to be independent.
We as women need to learn to accept, love, and forgive ourselves. Women are stereotyped in almost every manner, and once we as individuals are able to break this cycle, nothing can stop us from achieving what we were put on this earth for.
What attracts you to House of Sheens?
I’ve always been taught by my parents to state whats right, and to never let anyone take you for granted. I was attracted to House of Sheens as it is a brand for the fearless woman, who takes her stand in the society and voices her opinions.
What makes a #SheensWoman?
Confidence, and never being ashamed of who you are.
What did you learn by coming up with the vision for this photoshoot with HOS?
I learned a lot about organisational skills and team work. The photoshoot was a great learning experience, and I got to meet some wonderful people during the course of the assignment.
What keeps you motivated and inspired?
Brainstorming for opportunities like these is always inspiring and exciting. When brands like House of Sheens collaborates with institutions to provide opportunities to students, they allow us to have a taste of the real world.
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
I see myself having earned my Masters in Fashion Styling from a college in London, having worked for an established fashion brand, traveled across many countries, married, with a venture of my own, and most importantly, happy and content with my life.
House of Sheens is extremely proud to have worked with Aashna and Shivangi. We believe in providing talented students with opportunities to make a difference in the real world. If you would like to work with us, contact us today.
